My fabrics have finally arrived in Latvia from the US, thanks Mary. Now, I can see just how much of a challenge this project is going to be!
The check and the pink/blue floral stand out in what is otherwise a fairly harmonious palette, so some head scratching will definitely be involved in incorporating those two! Should be fun :)

Starting Fabric
Hello all!
I just got back from vacation, but before I left I received my package of uglies from my swap partner Kristy at In Stitches On The Compound.
And to tell the truth.......nothing is really speaking to me right now. Uhhhhh.......I think I will need more time to think about this project! The fabric is good quality but, wow, there is some chicken fabric......

I rethought my previous idea for using these fabrics, I couldn't seem to find anything that would tie the green of the Thimbleberry with the other fabrics, but with the help of the owner of My Favorite Quilt Shop, I found this lovely striped material that pulls that green in. This isn't the finished product, but I'm really liking the direction that it is going in now.
A START!
... it has taken a while to make my mind up as to WHAT to do with my fabric.
I decided today just WHAT I am going to do....
The cutter came out...
THIS is what I have left of my fabric
WHAT am I doing... OH you will have to wait and see!!! lol xx

Intro and a topper
Hello everyone! I realized I was almost done with my quilt top and had never introduced the fabric I was working with :) So, top picture is the fabric I received from Gari. It's ended up that I'm not using the white fabric because it was too thin, which works out fine because she sent me about 3 yards of that dark fabric and so far I've already used 1 1/2 yards of it and almost all of the other floral! Initially I was thinking some sort of pinwheels or something similar, then thought it might be too busy.
I've been wanting to try out triangles forever so bought a triangle ruler and started cutting. Here's what I came up with:

I am going to use the stripey fabric as the binding and use up the rest of the dark fabric on the backing. I'm thinking straight lines for quilting. Should make a nice picnic/beach blanket!
